The Director General accepted the invitation from the Embassy of Kenya to Zimbabwe to join Heads of Diplomatic Missions and International Organizations accredited to Zimbabwe for a tree planting day which was held in Harare on the 3rd of March 2023.

Her Excellency Stella Munyi the Ambassador of Kenya to Zimbabwe hosted the event in honour of Nobel Laureate Professor Wangari Maathai. In her speech, Her Excellency Stella Munyi emphasized the sustainability of tree planting activities which includes the fortification of biodiversity to mitigate climate change.

Zimbabwe’s Minister of Environment, Climate, Tourism & Hospitality, Honourable Mangaliso Ndlovu was the Guest of Honour and he called for more work to be done in the recycling industry as a measure to grow the economy as well as alleviating the effects of climate change.

In that regard, Director General Bemanya Twebaze planted a Ficus Benjamin tree which is commonly known as the weeping fig, which he named the “ARIPO Innovation Tree”, underlining ARIPO’s commitment to supporting innovation in every field, including the preservation of the environment.
